Annual Theme: Triumph & Tragedy
Registration Deadlines: Registration is open January 18-February 15, 2019. Papers must be submitted and websites will be locked at 11:59pm February 15.
State Contest: The 1st and 2nd place finishers in every category in each division will advance to the state contest. Registration is available February 23rd-March 25th. Papers must be submitted and websites will be locked at 11:59 on March 28th.
National Contest: The 1st and 2nd place finishers in every category in the junior and senior division will compete at the national contest at the University of Maryland in College Park from June 10-14th, 2019.
Please fill out all sections of this form by 11:59pm on February 15, 2019. Make sure that you or your teacher have submitted payment by then as well.
Before registering, please make sure your teacher has registered. Students will NOT be able to register until their teacher has registered.
Groups entries: The first student in a group to create their account will create the group entry during the registration process. The rest of the group will link to the group project that their teammate has already created when they create their own account. Once the first student is registered they will give their fellow group members the “team key.” Note: The team key will appear on your student registration confirmation page. The team key can also be found within your student profile.
Papers will need to be uploaded in PDF format to your registration portal by the end of the registration period in order for your registration to be considered complete. Make sure your annotated bibliography is included.
Websites will need to provide the Weebly URL for your website during registration.
Your URL should look like this: https://12345678.nhd.weebly.com. If your URL has words instead of numbers in the middle, you’ll need to convert it to NHD Weebly before you register.
To convert: go to nhd.weebly.com and login using your Weebly username and password. Click “Convert” and write down your new URL.
If you experience issues converting your website contact email@example.com. When you register, you will type in the 8-digit number from your URL.You will be able to edit your website until the close of registration.
Once registration closes, your website will be automatically "lock" for judging so you will not be able to access your website until the day after your Regional Competition is complete. Please ensure that you have completed all edits before the close of registration.
Teachers must register themselves BEFORE any of their students will be able to register.
You will be able to view/edit your student(s) information in your portal.
Please ensure that students have regististered for the Regional Contest. This must be done by 11:59 p.m., February 15, 2019.
